Search Pike County Civil Dockets

Start a Pike County civil docket search with the case number if you have one. The state court portal opens the record, but the Circuit Court Clerk keeps the official file for Pike County. No number handy? Narrow a party-name query by county, category, case status, and filing period, and pick the right category before you run it. The docket tracks filings, service, hearings, and orders in noncriminal cases, so it shows what has happened and what is set next. Some things still need the Clerk directly. A pleading image, a certified order, a current balance, or a restricted family record usually requires a request to that office.

Pike County Civil Docket PL Search Clue

PL stands for Civil Plenary. It is the case-type clue that marks a plenary action on a Pike County civil docket. The clue helps separate plenary cases from other results. Still, PL is not the only civil code MyCase uses, and the portal also filters by court, category, status, and date. A CAPTCHA may appear after a search. The Indiana local-courts overview supplies the official context for the state's trial-court structure and the route to Pike County's civil docket.

Pike County civil docket Indiana local courts overview

The state court structure leads locally to Pike Circuit Court. Pike County has no separate superior or city court. So verify a close name match by court, type, filing date, and case style before you rely on it.

Inside a Pike County Civil Docket

Read a civil-plenary docket by field group. The case header says what the matter is and where it sits. The CCS lists what has been filed or ordered. Hearing sessions show what is set. Document metadata tells you whether an electronic file exists, though it does not guarantee a public download.

A Pike County civil docket event and the document behind that event are two different public-access results.

Reading Pike County Civil Docket Connections

MyCase labels each connection as plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent. That label describes the party's role in the action. It says nothing about who will prevail. An appearance records participation by a lawyer or party, and attorney fields may carry a bar number plus a lead or retained designation for counsel.

Pleading
A formal complaint, petition, answer, claim, defense, or response entered in the record.
Service
Delivery of process or notice, with issued and returned activity shown as separate events.
Motion
A request that asks the court to rule or take action.
Order
A court directive or ruling, distinct from a party's filing.
Judgment
The court's formal adjudication or monetary or legal determination.

A "service returned served" entry records activity. It does not prove the claim or predict judgment. An administrative notice may likewise add a CCS row without resolving any disputed issue in the Pike County civil docket.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

Pike Local Rule LR63-AR00-13 sends civil actions with more than $6,000 in controversy, along with probate matters, to Pike Circuit Court. The threshold is an assignment marker. It is not legal advice. The same circuit court's Small Claims, Juvenile and Family Law Division handles statutory small claims. It also handles dissolution, legal separation, and juvenile assignments.

  • Civil plenary and other civil actions assigned to Pike Circuit Court.
  • Statutory small claims routed to the Small Claims, Juvenile and Family Law Division.
  • Probate matters assigned to Pike Circuit Court and searched under Probate.
  • Dissolution and legal separation searched with the Family category and routed to the family division.
  • Juvenile work in the division, with stronger access restrictions than an ordinary civil case.

The division name does not mean separate courthouses. Pike County's official capacity report shows one circuit judge, one part-time referee, and no city or town court judges.

Where Pike County Small Claims and Family Work Sits

A Pike County civil docket search can fail when the category misses the local assignment. Small claims is the classic trap. A small-claims matter may appear in the same Odyssey environment while the circuit court's Small Claims, Juvenile and Family Law Division handles it. Family cases belong under Family. Probate work belongs under Probate.

When a result appears under an unexpected label, use its case number and call the Clerk. Starting over with a guessed court name wastes time.

Civil Docket Settings and Hearings

A hearing entry in a Pike County civil docket can list date and time, court, judicial officer, result, cancellation status, reason, and more than one session. A future setting is just a schedule. A bench trial or pretrial conference on the calendar is not proof it will happen unchanged. Check later CCS entries. Look for a continuance, amended order, or new session. Pike's local rules add scheduling context. They call for civil discovery to be complete at least 70 days before trial, dispositive motions 60 days before trial, and pretrial motions 30 days before trial. A motion to compel needs the stated good-faith meet-and-confer certification. Those deadlines explain the scheduling entries. They do not replace the order in the case. The continuance rule asks for a written motion showing good cause and, absent a late-arising reason, filing as soon as possible and no later than ten days before the hearing or trial. Always confirm a current setting. Check MyCase or call the Clerk at 812-354-6025.

A Missing Pike County Civil Docket PDF

Some entries in the Pike County civil docket list a pleading or an order. Yet no public image can be downloaded. The entry itself may carry document metadata with a download flag that turns out to be false. Read this as a records question, nothing more. It is not proof that the complaint, the service paper, or the order was never filed.

It may sit in a paper file, was never indexed, is confidential, is sealed, or is held by a reporter. Mail or visit the office. The address is 801 E Main St, PO Box 125, Petersburg, IN 47567. Indiana E-Filing and Pike County Civil Dockets

Indiana runs two separate systems for civil court dockets, and the difference matters. The state's electronic filing system delivers filings to the court, while MyCase gives the public its view of eligible docket data. One system files; the other displays. So a CFE or electronic-filing event can show up on the docket before any member of the public can actually obtain the document underneath it. Restricted content stays restricted even after e-filing.

The official Indiana court e-filing page describes the statewide filing channel that serves this Pike County civil docket.

Parties and their lawyers work inside the filing system under court rules. Public readers work through MyCase. When the public event and the available image do not match, ask the Pike County Clerk for the official record.

Certified Pike County Civil Docket Copies

A MyCase printout is not automatically certified. For an authenticated copy, go to the Pike County Clerk, who can prepare one from the official file and confirm whether an older paper record is still held locally. The Indiana State Board of Accounts Clerk resource lists statewide reference amounts: $1.00 per legal or letter page to prepare a transcript or copy, $1.00 for a certificate under seal attached to or authenticating a copy, and $3.00 for a transcript of judgment to become a lien. A county ordinance or the access method can change an amount.

The state Clerk resource is the official source for Pike County civil docket fee and duty context.

Pike County civil docket Clerk fee and duty resource

Pike County publishes no full civil fee schedule covering filing, search, service, or certified-copy prices. Treat those amounts as open. Write “[fee not located in official Pike sources]” for other requested items, and confirm the item, payment method, and total with the Clerk before sending funds.

Civil Docket Access Rules

Indiana Access to Court Records Rule 4 presumes a court record is public. Rule 5 or another authority may exclude it. That presumption does not put every Pike County civil docket document online. Family and juvenile material may get added protection. Probate inventories, accountings, wills, and exhibits can turn out differently. Confidential financial, child-related, sealed, mental-health, and court-ordered material may be withheld.

Public access is not the same as online access.

Rule 4 states the general presumption, while Rule 5 lists excluded categories.

Rule 9 provides a verified petition route for extraordinary access to excluded records, not a routine document order.

When the Clerk withholds an item, ask for the authority behind it. For the official civil file itself, not just the public event history, use the Pike County court record search path and name the exact CCS entry or final order you need.
